Terms and Conditions
GOAL OF THE YOUNG IMPACT INNOVATORS AWARD
1.1. The Young Impact Innovators Award is an initiative by the Institute for Art and Innovation. The goal of the Award is to honor great ideas, people, and initiatives that develop and implement strong solutions against the plastic epidemic. The Award aims at strengthening the recognition of young impact innovators and the value of their action and work.
1.2. By submitting to the Young Impact Innovators Award 2020 the applicant hereby accepts these Competition Rules (Terms and Conditions).
APPLICANTS
2.1. The Award is open to anyone. There are no restrictions based on gender, training, or nationality.
2.2. Applicants can submit one or more solution ideas/initiatives, of any medium. Each submission must be based on an online application including a short description in German/English language and one image (visual or video/film still or other visualization e.g. ideation card). The solution ideas/initiatives must be portrayed through the ideation card or at least one image/ visual submitted.
2.3. The applicants must be the owner of the visual and the works submitted must be of their own origination. The applicants must hold all moral and intellectual property rights.
APPLICATION
3.1. To participate in the Young Impact Innovators Award 2020 the applicant must upload one image and a short description of the submitted solution ideas/initiatives at https://plastic-revolution.org/en/ideen/ideen-registrieren
3.2. Applications must be submitted by September 06, 2020 – 11:59 pm CET.
3.3. Any support requests must be directed to join@plastic-revolution.org before the closing time.
3.4. The image submitted must be no smaller than 0,2MB and no larger than 2MB (recommended width of digital image: 2000 pixel). Should the submission get selected for the second stage of the Award selection process starting on 6 September 2020, the applicant must be able to answer all mandatory questions and to supply a short video (1-2 min, link/URL to be provided to vimeo or youtube). If the image quality is not good enough, it will lead to the cancellation of the application.
3.5. The description of the submitted solution/ ideas/ initiatives should get your idea related to one of the nine topics. The second field should give a vital introduction to the solution/ ideas/ initiatives and the impact (to be) generated. All descriptions must be delivered in German or English language. Regarding the field ‘Think it bigger’ we expect you to give some insight into what is in your mind. Regarding the ‘Sustainability” field we would like you to further develop your idea in the most sustainable way possible. All other questions are to help you think your idea through but are not mandatory.
3.6. By submitting to the Award the applicant agrees and acknowledges that the Young Impact Innovators Award and the Institute for Art and Innovation are permitted to receive the applicant’s registration data in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) of the EU.
3.7. By submitting to the Award the applicant agrees that the Young Impact Innovators Award and the Institute for Art and Innovation may reproduce their solution idea details (at no fee) for communication purposes (including press, publicity, website, social media, promotion, catalog, books and any other printed or digital material in relation to the Young Impact Innovators Award and the Institute for Art and Innovation), excluding for resale.
3.8. By submitting to the Award the applicant agrees to be placed on the mailing lists for newsletters or announcements of future calls and projects by the Institute for Art and Innovation. If you won’t wish to receive any further invitations/newsletters after the Award phases, you can easily drop out by clicking Unsubscribe in the Email.
3.9. By submitting to the Award the applicant agrees that change-makers from around the world might use the images for their non-commercial activities related to Plastic Revolution activities and processes.
NO REGISTRATION FEE
4.1. There is no registration fee to enter the award.
SELECTION PROCESS
5.1. All applications that fulfill the entry necessities and are related to the subject should be submitted by September 06, 2020 – 11.59 pm CET to enter the selection process.
5.2. The three-staged selection process runs from September 7 till October 7, 2020.
5.3. At the selection stage 1, the most promising submissions to be selected in the Young Impact Innovators Award Makeathon will be chosen. To be eligible for the Award, they will have to submit the extended application form consisting of a 1-2 min video (link/URL to be provided to vimeo or youtube) by September 6, 2020. The link to the extended application form will be provided in the notification email. Missing information or poor image quality will lead to the cancellation of the application.
5.4. At stage 2 a shortlist of 30 (+10 from public voting) will be selected for the Acceleration phase.
5.5. At stage 3, the final judgment by the international jury selects the 5 winners of the Young Impact Innovators Award 2020. These will be officially announced at the award ceremony and opening of the exhibition of the Young Impact Innovators Award in October 2020 in Berlin, Germany.
5.6. The decisions of the jury and the organization team of the Young Impact Innovators Award 2020 are final and no negotiation is accepted in regard to that.
PUBLIC VOTING
6.1. There are 5 wild cards based on public voting. The 5 most voted solution ideas/initiatives will enter the final judgment, stage 3 of the selection process.
6.2. The solution ideas/initiatives selected at stage 1 of the selection process will enter the public voting.
6.3. The public voting opens September 7, 2020 – 00.01 am CET and closes September 13, 2020 – 11.59 pm CET
AWARD AND PRIZES
7.1. It is the goal of the Young Impact Innovators Award to honor great ideas, people, and initiatives that develop and implement strong solutions against the plastic epidemic. The Award aims at strengthening the recognition of young impact innovators and the value of their action and work. Additionally to the online platform, the ceremony and the social media activities of Plastic Revolution extend the reach, create publicity, and build awareness for the field of innovations/young impact innovators in regard to the plastic epidemic, and enhancing the discussion around the topic. The applicants gain recognition and add value to their professional careers.
7.2. The selected submissions of stage 1 will be covered and published online on September 1, 2020. For stage 2 (September 6, 2020) you must be prepared to upload a 1-2 min video, and link/URL to be provided on vimeo or youtube video.
7.3. The final-selected artists of stage 2 will additionally present their solution ideas/ initiatives on stage in Berlin, Germany in October 2020.
7.4. All applicants will receive a digital version of a certificate of participation.
AGREEMENT
8.1. The decisions of the awarding jury are unrecallable and undeniable. Each applicant gives to The Institute for Art and Innovation, without any compensation, the rights of reproduction, exhibition, publication, translation, and communication to the public, in any manner and without exception, for their submitted works and for the texts submitted for the selection.
